Rita and the Boredom Blizzard

Rita has toys everywhere: rainbow blocks, a bouncy red ball, her floppy-eared bunny, and absolutely nothing to do. But when she lets out the biggest sigh in the whole wide world, a small gray cloud swirls to life above her head... and it starts to snow. Indoors! The Boredom Blizzard has arrived. Snow whirls over the couch, the puzzle pieces, and the rug, and everything turns dull and slow and just a little bit gray. Even Rita's favorite red ball looks a little less red. Then an idea sparks to life inside her, bright and golden as a lightbulb: what if this snow is magical? With her fuzziest scarf wrapped snug and her favorite mittens on tight, Rita piles up cushions and blankets until she has built a magnificent Snow Adventure Fort right in the middle of the living room. And when the floor rises into a sparkling, swooping mountain made just for sliding, the most boring afternoon of her life becomes the very best one.A warm, joyful story that reframes boredom as the doorway to imagination, Rita and the Boredom Blizzard helps young readers discover that the most magical adventures often begin on the days when nothing seems fun at all. With bright, cheerful illustrations on every page, it is perfect for shared reading at bedtime or on a long, restless afternoon.Includes a note for parents and caregivers with conversation starters, a "This Book Belongs To" keepsake page, and a bonus coloring page.
